Carat notations

I have a diagram that is failing the Incompatible Flow validation rule even though the ports are the correct configuration. I noticed that if I hover my mouse over the port, I see a list of flow properties that has something like "in inputBFT" as well as "^in inputBFT". What does the carat indicate?

Solved! The ^ indicates an inherited relationship.
