Hiding shared project element property/properties

Postby skarthik.687@gmail.com » Mon Jul 30, 2018 12:12 am

Hello,

Im somewhat familiar with using the MagicDraw client(18.4). We use the team work server to hold our projects.

My question is about the Shared projects. One of our shared project element does not display the element id anymore.

This element group had been displaying Id's in the past, but it does not seem to show these Id's anymore.

I would like to know if this change was made at the server side or the client side? Also the steps to display these element group Id's would be great.

Thanks,
Karthik

Hello,

There is no Numbering on Server side. All is done on client side.
There was no change made to not show numbering id's.
Please try this: go to "Options->Project->General->Numbering" and turn "Display Element Number" to true. That should start showing Numbering id's again.

Hi,

I did try the option you mentioned. However my problem was not resolved after turning off the display numbering option and turning it on later on.

In fact the issue isnt there in the active project. It is present only shared project.

Can you confirm whether this is some kind of an issue?

Have a few questions then.

1) Can you open element in shared project and go to Tag's Node and see if there you will find the ID that was showing earlier?
2) Did you merge or did similar with the Shared project?
3) Do you see the numbers in main project when using the shared project?

I might suspect that you had a project merge or similar or a user removed id's? Like removing ID customization with stereotype?
Can you add new number to the shared project elements?

Hi,

When im using the shared project as an active project, I can see the numbers.

In fact the shared project itself has the Id's intact. The problem is it wont show up in the Containment tree explorer.

Taking a level deep, this shared project shows Id's, but there is a particular element which will not show Id's in the containment tree.

Let me know if you find this familiar.

I will check on the points you asked from your response in the mean time.

Thanks,
Karthik

If you are able to see numbers in Shared Project fine, check the Project Option to show numbering in the Active Project in which you use the Shared Project.
As Each project acts differently, if you turn on in shared, it's shown only in shared and if you use it, the option is taken from the project it Used, not the Shared project.
I hope I did not write it too confusing.

1) In project were you use Shared project: go to "Options->Project->General->Numbering" and turn "Display Element Number" set to true
2) Check particular Element if it's has the ID set in the Tags. Might be it's removed.

Hello,

The Display Numbering Property is true.

I can see the ID tag in the element that has this issue.

I do remember we did have Project Merge at some point of time. Mind elaborating what could be the potential cause of this issue by using Project Merge. That is something i do not have much idea about. Should help.

There might be that when merging, the options changed. Also the numbering scheme was corrupted or merged incorrectly. Another possibility could be customisation with numbering scheme has changed. Another thing also might be you had a custom ID for that element and the values were it was saved changed.

It's hard to say why the number is not shown without the project.
