Installing on NT 4.0

Postby Charles F. Waltrip » Fri May 19, 2000 12:24 am

Platform: Intel 266Mhz machine with 256Mbytes memory
OS: NT 4.0, SP5

Installed (default) version of JVM: 1.2.2

I downloaded both the noVM and VM versions of MagicDraw (Pro Demo).
When I double click on the download .exe files, InstallAnywhere
advises that it is extracting files and, after doing so, it exits.
Well, I finally found that the extracted files are in c: emp. When
I try to double click on the install.exe file (either version),
install.exe runs and immediately exits. I expected that both would
run and install MagicDraw, although I expected that there might be
some problems with the no VM version running under Java 2 -- but I
still expected it to run. I expected that the VM version would
first install a VM that MagicDraw prefers and then run. Neither
expectation proved true.

Can anyone help? I'd like to try this product out and recommend it
for adoption by my project but I'm stuck at the moment.

Thanks,

Chuck

Chuck,

Sorry for inconveniences.

This problem is noticed on random Windows machines, but the cause is still
unknown.

There few possible workarounds:

1. Change system localization into US English (if its not).
2 . Login into NT with a fresh account, just to install MagicDraw.
3. Download "other" installation.

If you still fail to install our tool, please contact me.

Best regards,
