Limiting memory use with used projects in 18.5/19

We have several separate teams developing Cloud projects in both MD18.5 and MD19. I need to use parts of several of these Cloud project, so have included some in my project as project usages. The memory use of MD is climbing with the addition of project usages. Are there ways to limit the memory impact of model usages in 18.5 and any differences limiting memory used by including used projects in 19?

Is there any way to use parts of an existing project so my project doesn't encounter the full brunt of the memory used by the additional project usages?
