MagicDraw and IBM VisualAge for Java

Postby Mike Henry » Tue Oct 10, 2000 2:16 pm

Hi,

I just wanted to ask if there are any plans of integrating MagicDraw with IBM's VisualAge for Java (VAJ). Apparently "The Competition" (sic) touts supporting EJB round-trip engineering with VAJ. I would like to know if/when this can be done using our favorite modelling tool?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Mike,

We are evaluating set of possible candidates (IDEs) for integration. I
cannot say for sure that it will happen that VAJ will be one of the
tools we will be going with soon, but it is in the candidate list.

Thanks,
Saulius

OO software design can be an appealing challenge if you have

If you need another vote for VAJ, then count me in, too. Aside from using
plain vanilla SDK from the command-line for things like SQLJ, VAJava 3.5
Enterprise is the only Java tool we use.

Eclipse vs VAJ

Postby jose » Fri May 10, 2002 9:45 am

OK, VAJ is a great IDE but do you Know Eclipse ???

It's an open source alternative (by IBM) for develop an Java IDE (for
Windows, Linux...). Eclipse is equals (similarity) to VAJ.

Before Eclipse, I was VAJ entusiast. But now, Eclipse vs VAJ, Eclipse
winner...

Eclipse:
· Integration with Magic Draw (new beta version 5.5)
· Weblogic 5.X, 6.X (develop, and debug, not support EJB wizard)
· Perfect integration with CVS
· Versions for Windows and Linux (allows to change de JVM)

VAJ:

· Not support with last Weblogic version
· Magic draw not support any integration (now...)
· Poor integration with CVS
· Versions for Windows (NOT allows to change de JVM) and

NetBeans (IDE in pure Java):
· Integration with Magic Draw
· Weblogic 5.X, 6.X integration?? (I don't know)
· Perfect integration with CVS
