label for a lane MUST NOT be separated by a single line

Postby david.bonnafous@laplace.univ-tlse.fr » Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:02 am

hi,

reading book "Real-Life BPMN 3rd edition" I bring to your attention that according to BPMN 2.0 (page 305 of the spec):

The label for the Lane MAY be placed in any location and direction within the Lane, but MUST NOT be separated from the contents of the Lane by a single line (except in the case that there are sub-Lanes within the Lane).

That's not the case with MagicDraw 18.5 and Cameo Business Modeler.

Should I report an issue about it ?

yours,

Hello David,

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. We think that there is no contradiction between BPMN 2.0 specification and how it is realized in MagicDraw or Business Modeler. Could you please provide us a screenshot in order to understand better what is not according to the BPMN 2.0 specification?

Thank you in advance,
Jovaldas

On the screenshot of MagicDraw, You can see that the label for the lanes are separated from the content of the lane by a line.
This is specifically forbidden by the spec (p305, as quoted in my previous post).

According to my understanding of the spec it should be:

This an extract of the spec (p. 306).

thank you.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback. Label of lane is separated from content and this is not according to the BPMN 2.0 specification.
This contradiction is not essential, but we recorded the improvement request to make changes of this issue.
Fix version for this issue is not set and fix date is not known.

Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences.

Best regards,
Jovaldas

For sure it is not essential.

I have found another one issue more semantically significant.
It's about "Event-Based Gateway to Start a Process".

According to the spec, when a "Event-Based Gateway" is to start a process, it should be with one circle not two.

Even if I set the to "true" the "Instantiate" property.

Is it a real issue or I don't use magicdraw in the right way ?
