CSV Import With Special Characters

Postby randy.storey@icloud.com » Thu Jul 06, 2017 12:00 pm

I'm importing data from a csv file. Some of the data contains apostrophes " ' ". When they are imported the apostrophes are shown as question marks "?" enclosed within a diamond. I can manually change these back to apostrophes but is there a way to import them so that they show correctly or are apostrophes not appropriate to use?

Hello Randy,

Currently, se cannot reproduce the problem yet.
But this might depends on the encoding of your machine. You may try to over-write the encoding for MagicDraw.

To specify the encoding for MagicDraw:
1. Edit file "magicdraw.properties" located in <MagicDraw folder>/bin/.
2. Append the "Dfile.encoding" parameter to the JAVA_ARGS. For example, JAVA_ARGS=-xx xx xx -Dfile.encoding\=UTF-8
3. Restart MagicDraw and try the importing again.

Best Regards,
Supat P.

Thank you very much. Will give it a try. My initial work around was to perform a find and replace with corrected the issue but was an extra step in the process.
