Roundtrip or Convert from IDL to UML

Postby julied@raytheon.com » Mon Sep 11, 2017 2:06 pm

I am rather new to MagicDraw but was reading in the user guide that you can convert your IDL to UML. Can someone confirm this capability exists. Thanks

CORBA IDL Template does support that, I have tried it using MD18.5 Enterprise . Try it by creating a new project from Template and target CORBA IDL.

Yes, you can roundtrip engineer using CORBA IDL.

If you have CORBAIDL files, you can reverse them to a UML model, make modifications and generate new CORBA IDL files from the model.
In order to do that, you need to:
1) Create a CORBA IDL engineering set ( by right clicking Code Engineering Sets -> New -> CORBA IDL )
2) Right click it, select Edit
3) Select files you wish to reverse, click OK
4) Right click the new CORBA IDL engineering set and press Reverse.

You can read more about code engineering, code engineering sets etc. in the user manual located in <product.installation.directory>\manual\MagicDraw CodeEngineering UserGuide.pdf
