Committing Changes

Postby ilan.sklar@gtri.gatech.edu » Wed Sep 20, 2017 9:00 am

I'm running into a problem where me and a coworker are constantly destroying each other's work because when we commit changes, sometimes we have not exercised the Update Project function.
Even if we do use UPDATE PROJECT, if we're working simultaneously in the same project and one commits changes before the other, the person to commit first has their work destroyed because the next person saves over it.

Are we doing something wrong? I would have thought Cameo only updates the files which one has locked for edit. If the element or diagram is never locked/unlocked for edit, then why is cameo committing changes for unedited items? This is causing us a lot of headaches as we keep trampling over each others work.

Thanks!

Hello,

Could you please describe exactly what was destroyed? Scenario which describes how to reproduce this issue would be helpful.
Note, that Update should be required if new version exists on the server.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,

Lets say we have a teamwork server project which contains diagrams A, B, C.
-You and I simultaneously do a PROJECT UPDATE,
-I lock A for edit and modify A, then commit changes
-you lock B for edit and modify B, then commit changes - At this point, since you did not UPDATE PROJECT after I submitted A, you are now replacing the most current version of A (the one I updated) with an older version.
