Scylla ever considered?

Postby chris@2hb.com » Fri Dec 22, 2017 6:33 pm

There is a database http://www.scylladb.com/ that is opensource that is a drop in replacement for Apache Cassandra.

It is supposed to have a huge performance improvement. Have you considered using this? It is also opensource.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for pointing to this product.

As much as the advertised Scylladb performance improvemenets sound exciting, a show stoppper for us would be missing support for Windows OS.
While we highly recommend deployment on Linux even with our current backend, Cassandra, Windows is a must among our supported OS list.

Kind regards,

Can you just tell everyone to move to linux :-)

Good point, I'll ask to see if Scylla would consider a Windows deployment.

However, if it is really as simple as they say, ie. a drop in replacement. Could a test be done in linux just to see and then of course everyone would want to move to linux because it is so much faster and essentially cheaper if you don't need as many resources to run the tools.
