Copying a package for use in a new standalone project

Postby matzy812@bigpond.com » Thu Jul 12, 2018 1:06 am

I have a model being maintained on teamwork server, i would like to take some packages that contain activity diagrams and their objects and copy them to a new project. When i do i seem to loose stereo types i have created for them and hence any tagged data, also if there are any call outs to other activities from other diagrams the activity is left blank.

I want to be able to create a seperate standalone MagicDraw file that i can pass on to a 3rd party without sharing the rest of the model and associated relationships.

is there an easy way to just copy only the packages that contain the diagrams and objects without loosing stereotype information or behaviour call

Hello Matzy812,

You could simply use File>Save Project As , then pick the option to save without the version and lock information (i.e. turn the TWS project into local project).
And then remove the unnecessary information from that project by deleting the not necessary stuff.
You have to be careful about what you delete and what you keep.
So - if you need stereotype applications to remain, do not delete stereotype definitions. If you want the call actions to retain their target behaviors - do not delete those behaviors. And so on.

I hope this helps.
