Are datastore or central buffer not supported?

Postby markus.walker@ch.schindler.com » Mon Jul 01, 2013 2:23 am

When trying to simulate an activity diagram with datastore or central buffer, the simulation will terminate right after its initialization. It reprotes only an INFO Activity xyz execution is terminated.

Hi,

Currently, Cameo Simulation Toolkit (v17.0.4) does not support for the execution of the dataStore and the centralBuffer.
Sorry for your inconvenience.

Best regards,

It seems that it is still not supported in v18.

Is there any othe way of simulating a queue of objects?

Thanks

In addition to the question already posed, I noticed that in the samples provided with v18.1, central buffer nodes are used in many activity diagrams. In the distiller example, nearly every activity diagram has central buffer nodes as part of the system. When I tried to run a simulation of the various diagrams, they failed.

If central buffer nodes are not supported in v18.1, what is the preferred method for replacing the function they are supposed to be executing? I am trying to show a state change using these nodes.

Not all samples in MD can be run a simulation.
We guarantee the simulation only samples in "<<MD installation folder>>/samples/simulation" folder.

At the moment, if you want to simulate a queue of objects, you may use the expansion region together with a expansion node.
The tokens passe to the expansion node as a queue (we support only FIFO for now) into the expansion region. (see at "<<MD installation folder>>/samples/simulation/tests/test_structuredActivityNode.mdzip" in TestExpansionRegionConfig)

FYI, Cameo Simulation Toolkit support activity execution based on fUML standard (http://www.omg.org/spec/FUML/).
In the fUML latest version 1.1, it doesn't support the semantics of data store and central buffer node yet, so Cameo Simulation Toolkit doesn't too.
