Result in Expression Evaluation Tool but not Generic Table

Postby steven.suchting@boeing.com » Wed Nov 11, 2020 5:55 pm

I have Structured Expression that gives me the result I expect when I use the Expression Evaluation Tool (result is a Real number).
However, when I use that exact same Structured Expression as a Generic Table Derived Property, I get no result.
How do I get the result in the table that I see in the tool?

Here is the last step in the expression evaluation tool, showing the result:

The next-to-last step in the expression works fine (this is the argument to the Jython script). That result is a set of type Literal Real (aka LiteralRealImpl).
Here is the next-to-last step in the expression evalution tool, showing the result:

And here is the table showing the results that work and are visible, and the column where the result is not appearing.

How can I make a standard real number appear in the table? Does it need to be converted to some kind of NoMagic data type? And if so, how?
Thanks!

Hi Steven,

this is difficult to answer without seeing the expression for the custom column/derived property, but this is typically a problem of not defining the correct return type. This is done in the expression window at the top just right of the column name. In your case you could take e.g. the Real primitive type.

Best regards

ogirdor - Thank You :!: :!: :!:

Your suggestion made me go back and look at the available return types again. I thought I had previously searched for a basic Real type, but didn't see it. I had tried LiteralReal without success, but now see the Real type as a primitive is also available and that works!

In case others have a similar issue in the future, I'm including one more graphic showing the successful expression dialog and its result in the table:

Thanks again! :D
