Auto-numbering of Exchange Elements (IEs) and Resource Inter

Postby » Mon Jan 16, 2017 2:27 pm

We have multiple architects using MagicDraw 18.2 to edit a model stored in Cameo Teamwork Server. Element auto-numbering of Exchange Elements and Resource Interactions has been creating duplicate identifiers. Element exchanges with the same identifier have been created by the same modeler in the same day, different modelers in the same day, and different modelers days apart with duplicate IDs a few numbers lower than the highest numbered information exchange in the model. The starting point for the Resource Interactions has somehow reset to increment from the 140s and 150s even though the highest autonumbered RI is 199. And the element numbering tool is not working; the only way to deconflict the numbering has been to change the id text elements by hand.

Any thoughts on how to fix this issue?

As the same question was submitted and answered in our support system we just adding the answer here:

The issue is know and registered (also we have registered the new issue for your case to be reviewed additionally) in our bug system to be fixed in future versions.
One thing can be done is that when numbering is turned off and all different users finish their model creation, one user adds the required IDs. Other solution is what you are doing - manually renumbering the elements.

We are really sorry for the inconvenience.

Hack to get around this (worked in UAF for Resource Exchanges 19.0SP4):

Create a Generic Table diagram
Give it the appropriate scope for your elements, select type (Resource Exchange for me)
Set up 2 columns - Name and Identifier (mine had RIXXX numbers)
Copy all rows into Excel - should paste as 2 columns
Make the edits on the Identifiers using the drag feature or however you want to do it in order to get unique numbers
Copy edited cells in Excel
Paste in Cameo in the Generic Table

Make sure to spot-check it for accuracy (same row number in your table has the correct name it started with)

Took about 4 minutes to paste in ~1k rows.
