Model the life cycle as part of the system context

Postby duncanwg7@gmail.com » Thu Apr 08, 2021 12:22 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone have suggestions for modelling the life cycle of a system as part of the system context or even as part of the system model.

This is in specific relation to systems whose operational design is highly dependant on the outputs of preceding life cycle stages such as installation, qualification etc. And such systems which transition back to previous stages of the life cycle when criteria are/are not met. e.g. systems requiring requalification. Surely such life cycle stages have to be connected by the model, and how would this be modelled? Would it make sense to model the system life cycles stages as system states using a state machine diagram and then model the process for each state using activity diagrams to depict the logic of progressing to proceeding states?

Thanks for your input!
