Trouble with running command line report generator

Postby nrichlen@hotmail.com » Wed Aug 18, 2021 5:23 pm

Anyone have an issue running the command link report generator?

I can't run the examples here: https://docs.nomagic.com/display/MD190/ ... te+reports

Here is my command. I only get Warnings. No errors and no output.

C:\Program Files\Cameo Enterprise Architecture\19.0.3\plugins\com.nomagic.magicdraw.reportwizard>generate -project "C:\Program Files\Cameo Enterprise Architecture\19.0.3\samples\diagrams\class diagram.mdzip" -output "C:\output.rtf" -template "Class Specification Report" -package "Model" -report "Built-in" -autoImage 1 -imageFormat png -recursive false -outputOnBlankField "#NA"
-project "C:\Program Files\Cameo Enterprise Architecture\19.0.3\samples\diagrams\class diagram.mdzip" -output "C:\output.rtf" -template "Class Specification Report" -package "Model" -report "Built-in" -autoImage 1 -imageFormat png -recursive false -outputOnBlankField "#NA"
Running now again

Hi Sarawut,

I have the same issue, I see only the above mentioned output from the command line, when the job/batch is started from an automation server.
It seems the tool MagicDRaw/Cameo is not really started, because there are no entries in the log file visible for such an execution run.

If I execute the batch in a user command line window, the reports are generated.

Best regards,
Karsten

Interesting. I looked at trying to get the log file for you. I found it and cleared it out and ran again.

At the bottom I see this:
2021-08-19 08:05:24,402 [main] INFO PLUGINS - PLUGINS LOADED.
2021-08-19 08:05:25,927 [main] ERROR LICENSE - License validation failed.
2021-08-19 08:05:25,927 [main] ERROR GENERAL - Application initialization failed.

I suppose in the command line I need to login and connect to the license server even though I am running on a local model?

Hello,

For floating license issue, we recommend you to open MagicDraw with floating license, in UI mode one time before generating report via generate.bat file.
This is for activating floating license for the MagicDraw client.

If this could not solve your issue, please try this instruction

1. Open generate.bat at "<MagicDraw>\plugins\com.nomagic.magicdraw.reportwizard", with text editor tool.
2. Enter these below parameters to the file:
-DFL_FORCE_USAGE=true
-DFL_SERVER_ADDRESS={flexnet_license_server_address}
-DFL_SERVER_PORT={license_server_port}
-DFL_EDITION={magicdraw_edition}
3. Save the file and try to generate report via command line again

Is your automation server support UI mode?
Because MD needs UI for command line report generation.
You need xvfb to support it.

Hello Sarawut,

thanks for your support!

At least I was now able to get it running with:

1) Parameters for floating license server in the batch
2) Then the tool started, but complains about the template "not found". After changing the automation server to UI mode, generation was successful.

Best regards,
Karsten
