Assign a specific fill color to an inner swimlane

Postby etienne_f » Fri Mar 30, 2012 7:13 am

Hello,

I use MagicDraw 17.0 SP3.

Inside activity diagrams, how is it possible to use a fill color only on an inner swimlane ?

When I click on my inner swimlane, the header appears selected, which seems to indicate that only that inner swimlane is selected.
But when I select 'Symbol properties', it's the 'Swimlane' element that appears in the dialog.
As a consequence if I choose a specific fill color, it's all the swimlanes that take that color.

I my opinion, the 'Symbol properties' menu should have made appear a dialog on 'Activity partition' element, thus allowing such a colorization on the sole inner swimlane... But that's not the case and I don't know how to proceed differently.

Any ideas ?

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is no way to apply the Fill Color symbol property only for one partition because partitions of swimlane are not interpreted as separate symbols. In this case symbol properties are available only for the swimlane.

If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for the answer.

Maybe it could be a matter of enhancement.
We used to use such a feature under Together as it was possible.

Best regards.

Etienne.

Has this feature request been implemented yet? i.e., filling individual inner swim lanes.
Thanks,

And here we are in 2021 and the capability still is not there. It was first requested a decade ago!
This could add visual clarity when coordinated with color in other system components.
SparX EA has had it for years and migrating SparX models into MagicDraw is a step backwards for the stakeholders using the "new improved" Diagrams!
