Sharing sterotypes package still required?

Postby SteveS » Tue Oct 02, 2018 3:31 pm

I'm using CEA 18.5 SP3. I'm trying to follow the Case Study: Creating Your First Customization on page 29 (Section 4) of the UML Profiling and DSL 18.1 User Guide.
I'm on step 5, where it says to "Share the stereotypes package".
I found elsewhere (https://docs.nomagic.com/display/MD185/Creating+Profiles) that one should do this by selecting the "Share Packages" sub-command under the "Project Usages" command in the context menu of the profile package.
However, I don't see a "Share Packages" sub-command in my current CEA version. The only available sub-command is "Export Packages to New Server Project..."

Is the User Guide now in error?
What is the correct way to share customized stereotypes for use in other projects?

Sharing a profile consists of just going to save it locally for distribution as a used project to other folks. They could then open that used project (profile) from the file location they saved your profile to.

The export to new server project will just host that same file off of the magicdraw teamwork cloud server, making it so that you can use a server project that is your profile.

The "share" option is a holdover from old versions, and all it does is save locally assuming you know to then send to others followed by others knowing how to "use project".
