Ordering within cells

Postby DJarl » Thu Apr 15, 2021 7:27 am

I've built several custom columns for some of my requirements tables that pull multiple pieces of information. For example blocks or numbered functional requirements. The problem is that they are displayed in a random order. I have tried changing the IDs and removing the IDs all together where I can, but it doesn't change anything. You would think that something as simple as blocks named 3.9, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 would be displayed in numerical order but that is not happening.

Does anyone know how to order elements numerically within a cell on a requirements table?

After posting this question I also reached out to No Magic. Here is their reply:

"Hello,
Thank you for contacting No Magic customer support with your question.
Unfortunately, there is no way to sort data in table cell. Such feature is already registered in our database. We do appreciate your efforts to make MagicDraw a better product.
If you have any other questions or encounter any other problems, please feel free to contact us for further assistance.

Best wishes,

I am seconding and BUMPing this request for help and am using CSM v2021.

I attached a capture of an example of when I am showing Instances and want to show Slot Values in an individual column.

* We have a Requirement and using Instance "Test Procedures" with a verify relationship. I can show the Slot values ("Slots" column) to the Instances ("Verified By" column), and at least if they aren't in a nice numerical order, as least the SLOTS are listed in the order of the Instances (if wrong, at least consistent).

* So I add custom columns that will filter by Property Filter (i.e. Name = "Test Proc No", "TP Descrip", "TP Status"...).

* The thing is CSM seems to evaluate and then report the results randomly. So there is no consistency and can't read the first line and say these are part of the same Instance, and so forth.

So in my example, the first line is Instance "4.1.4: Test Procedure" w/ the Slot Values of "4.1.4, Must be this angular, TBD". The filtering Slot Values are "4.1.2, Must be this angular, TBD".

You can read the other three instances and see the random placement (metachain evanuation?) of the Slot elements.

Not sure if this is a "bridge too far" to fix in CSM but it does greatly limit the usefulness of filtering columns in Generic/Requirements tables (and use of Instances) in general.

...and Cameo/MagicDraw's response "Such feature is already registered in our database." does this mean it is in their development queue to look at?
