An easy way to "expand" dependencies within an existing class diagram

Postby Jim Mayer » Thu Feb 21, 2002 1:56 pm

Here's another enhancement suggestion:

Magicdraw UML 5.0 SP1 contains a nice analysis tool. I can easily pick a
class and generate a class diagram showing depenencies on (or from) that
class. There does not seem to be any way to easily select a class (or
classes) in an existing diagram and have new classes and/or relationships
merged into the current diagram.

It is possible to create a new diagram, then copy and paste the objects into
an existing diagram, however there are several problems with this approach:

(1) The process is awkward, as it involves multiple steps and moving from
the diagram and back to the browser.

(2) If one of the classes already exists in the diagram, then it will be
duplicated after the paste operation. This is especially problematic in
diagrams that do not easily fit on a single screen.

Thanks.

Jim,

this suggestion is already in our improvements list.
We will try to allow showing dependent classes in the same diagram as soon
as possible.

Best regards,
