Drawing problems with JDK1.4 on Linux (MD5.5)

Postby Raffael Herzog » Fri Jun 28, 2002 9:11 am

I encountered the following problem with the drawing of
abstract classes:

The lines that separate the compartments, are drawn too low
(or the attributes/operations too high, I'm not sure: The
lines are placed lower, the attributes and operations stay,
but the handles for attributes and operations are placed
correctly) and overlap with the actual attributes/opera-
tions. This only happens with abstract elements, I could
also reproduce it with abstract subsystems. So it seems like
MD has problems with calculating sizes of italic fonts.

Here's a screenshot to clarify what I mean:

I could reproduce this with both Sun1.4.0 and Sun1.4.0_01.
It doesn't happen with JDK 1.3.1.

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact, that I'm right!

This problem is related to font settings in JDK, and maybe to font server.
Workaround is to use another JVM, or change font of symbol, since usually
only some fonts are buggy.
