MySQL Database Engineering

Postby Sean Blaes » Mon Jan 23, 2006 8:55 am

I have two questions for you. I am using MySQL and attempting to forward
engineer a MySQL database.

How do I denote a field as auto-incrementing?

How do I set the table type for a MySQL table (such as InnoDB)?

In both cases, I want the generated DDL to already have the tables and
fields marked up. I'm hoping that I can just apply a stereotype or
something.

Hi,

Unfortunately, MagicDraw does not support all MySQL commands for reversing/generating. This is in our future plans.
Most of commands are supported only for Oracle dialect. In your particular case, AUTO_INCREMENT statements are not supported. As a workaround to model and generate "auto_increment" statement, create a type modifier property with text "auto_increment" for the column. MagicDraw will be able to generate such statement into DDL script.

To set a table type for the table, open the specification window of the table, select "Tags" node and create value for "Type" slot. It should be possible to select predefined types.

We apologize for all the inconveniences you are experiencing. If you have more questions or problems feel free to contact us.
Best regards,
