Manage TMF Frameworx SID import and merge

Postby cfaurer » Wed Mar 16, 2011 11:07 am

Hello,

I am trying to understand if it is possible to convert the TMF Frameworx SID RSM/RSA model with every new release from the SID team. The SID team is currently using RSM but will be moving to RSA. They have the SID RSX model under svn change control. So they can support branching and merging to create the latest version of the SID model.

How can this be supported in MagicDraw? Assume that I used the RSXConverter to import SID V9 into MD and set it up as a read-only module. I then created models in MD that referenced the SID V9 read-only module.

Now there is a new SID V9.5 RSX version available. Can I again use RSXConverter to create an MD model and then use the Merge plugin to update the SID V9 module with the changes in SID V9.5? That way preserving the modeling work done against SID V9.

I guess it all depends on how RSXConverter handles the model element ids in the conversion.

Kind Regards,
Cliff

Dear Cliff,

You are right, the matter is in IDs preservation. In normal case the IDs are preserved, it should be possible to merge project.

Let us know if you have any other questions or issues.
