Memory usage of teamwork server

Postby tillmann.schall » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:23 am

Hi,

we are running a MagicDraw Teamwork Server 16.8 on Linux as deamon which worked out pretty fine for over a year. Within the last weeks we have OutOfMemoryErrors when starting the server or a user tries to login. The only thing the helped a litte was to increase the max heap size of the JVM to 3200 MB. Even though the size of the projects on disk is only 45 MB all together.

Code: Select all
Exception in thread "Backup Log" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
        at java.lang.Thread.start0(Native Method)
        at java.lang.Thread.start(Thread.java:614)
        at java.util.Timer.<init>(Timer.java:176)
        at com.nomagic.runtime.LogOutputStream.backupOnTimer(LogOutputStream.java:257)
        at com.nomagic.runtime.LogOutputStream$1.run(LogOutputStream.java:274)
        at java.util.TimerThread.mainLoop(Timer.java:534)
        at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:484)

We start the team server with the following settings (teamwork_server_nogui.properties):
Code: Select all
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/jre
MAIN_CLASS=com.nomagic.teamwork.muserver.MUServerImpl
BOOT_CLASSPATH=lib/xalan.jar
APP_ARGS=NOGUI
CONSOLE=false
JAVA_ARGS=-verbose:gc -Xloggc:/usr/local/teamserver/gc.log -Xms1024M -Xmx3200M -XX:MaxPermSize=600m -Djava.rmi.server.useCodebaseOnly\=true -Dsun.rmi.server.exceptionTrace\=true  -Djava.awt.headless\=true

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
