Search features in forum

Postby philip.nelson@gd-ms.com » Sat Sep 15, 2018 6:32 pm

Hello,
If possible please remove the restriction on searching for "common terms" on the forum.
Even if numerous, I would like to be able to search on things like "Association", "symbol properties", diagrams, etc.

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion. We will consider it when improving our community forum.

At the moment we are planning to upgrade our customer support system, but it might take some time.

As a workaround, you can search for not-full word with the wildcard (e.g. associatio*).

Sincerely,
No Magic, Inc. Customer Support

Has there been any progress on this after 2 years? I am having trouble using the forum to find any meaningful answers. Thanks.

This forum is one of the best sources of information when working through some detailed-fine-unique nuances of the nomagic tools. Cameo documentation only gets us so far!

The common word restrictions are not helpful - especially when words get ignored and unless you notice some word got ignored you get results, that aren't helpful. Please (again) consider removing the restrictions.

The issue is that most of the words someone wants to search for are being excluded as "common" words, so a search for "specification tag property value" ignores "specification" "property" & "value"; thus returning a staggering 508 results for "tag".

Suffice it to say - either add "tag" to your common words, or remove the others from your common words, because that underlined search string should have returned far less than 500+ results, and, the answer would have been helpful (or at least clear that the search string should be changed). The 500+ results are not helpful. These common words are common to your tool, but joined with other tool specific words are meaningful searches.....

Having to resort to typing "specificatio* tag propert* valu*" and mixing partial words (to find out that string yields 0 results) would have done the same thing without the restriction.
