Working offline

Postby Christoph Müller » Fri Apr 24, 2009 1:20 am

Hi MD-support staff

We recently migrated to version 16.0 and the corresponding teamwork-server.
Now we are trying to work offline by first locking the elements to edit and
saving the the project to the local drive.

Next time, starting MD and opening the locally saved teamwork-project, the
locked files seem to be locked by another person, although its my username
that is displayed as the locking person (element's names are grey instead of
black).

In version 15.0 that was possible. Even when opening the project on another
machine it was possible to work without a connection to teamwork-server.
Pretty useful, when working with the employer's pc (with connection to
teamwork) and the client's pc (without)... :-)

Regards,
Christoph

Dear Christoph,

At first it is hard to understand how it was possible to work in this
way on MagicDraw 15.0 version. MagicDraw 16.0 v. application behaves the
same as MagicDraw 15.0 version.
It is possible to work with project without connection to
teamwork-server. After opening project from teamwork-server you should
lock elements you will be working on and save it locally. If you save
project locally, all information about locked and not locked elements
are stored too.

Lock information is needed for other teamwork users to know on which
elements you are working on. So other users will not be able to make
changes on these elements. Generally, you will be able to work offline
only with your locked elements.

If this does not help you, please contact us for the further
assistance.
